Sneak Peak... one brown wall.
This is where the mural will go!

Sneak Peak... three pink walls.

Jordan's favorite Christmas present.
An Ohio State PINK dress for Laney :)

Another week complete, and only TEN weeks left! I feel like every post I tell you how fast the time has gone by, but really it has!!!

Yesterday we had our first little scare. Typically I feel Laney move throughout the day, but yesterday I felt only two very slight movements. I actually wasn't even quite sure if it was Laney moving or not. There are days she moves A LOT, and there are days when she is lazy. We have just never had a day where I didn't feel her move, and I couldn't do something to make her move.

I tried to eat candy, drink juice, lay in place quietly, play music, sing to her, talk to her, and nothing was working. I called in and they told me to come in and they will check me out just to be safe. So we headed to Tacoma General and they actually admitted me and made me put a gown on. It was a blessing in disguise, because we got to spend an hour listening to her beautiful perfect heartbeat! I even felt her move twice FINALLY while they were monitoring her.

Every time that I would talk to Jordan Laney's heartbeat would increase. It was so precious to know that she is already excited by the sound of my voice. They said that everything looks great, and that she was probably just feeling the effects of the flu I had the day prior.  We headed home completely reassured and we thanked God for our little healthy girl! Today she is moving like crazy, and I will enjoy every moment of it.

As for the nursery we have all the walls painted! My cousin and aunt will be painting a mural in the next few weeks, and then we will have it almost completely done! I will post pictures as soon as it is complete.

Our Christmas Blessing

Profile picture, 29 weeks!!!

Face picture, she is finally gaining some fat.
She doesn't look as much like a skeleton!

29 Weeks.. you can see her little lips

Today I had my 7 month appointment, which is the appointment that I have been dreading from the very beginning. I had to do the diabetes test, which I have heard horrible stories about AND I had to get a HUGE shot in my hip, because I am Rh Negative.

We woke up to snow and decided to leave 1 hour and 15 minutes early since the roads have been really bad lately. We arrived there in just one hour :), and I headed to the lab to drink the sugar soda. It actually wasn't bad at all. It just taste like flat sprite, but it was nice and cold. I drank it right down. Then we headed to my OB appointment. My doctor was not able to make it in today, because of the snow so I was able to see another doctor who we have seen in the past.

The appointment went very well. Everything is still looking good! My blood pressure is still low, and I don't have any protein or sugars in my urine. Laney's heart rate was 142, and she even kicked the doppler which made us all giggle. I had to get the shot in my hip today, and it really didn't hurt. I asked Jordan NOT to say anything about how big the needle was while I was getting the shot, but after all was said and done he told me the needle was HUGE. He said it is one the biggest he has seen, and he use to be an EMT.  The nurse even told me she chose "the friendlier needle".

Every appointment they measure your belly, and while my weight gain is still minimal my belly was measuring more growth than it should be at 29 weeks. The doctor said it could be because she measures differently than my actual doctor, and at our next appointment if our doctor found the same thing we might do an ultrasound. She said it is NOTHING to worry about, but that some women just make big babies and they like to keep an eye on them. She said do you guys want an ultrasound, and of course we said YES YES YES!!! We thought we wouldn't get to see Laney anymore, so she said well I have medical reason I can call one in for you. We were so excited.

We then called a few places, and luckily there were a lot of openings for the same day, because of the everyone canceling due to the snow. Normally it takes a few weeks to get an appointment. We felt SO BLESSED.

We got to our ultrasound and the technician was FABULOUS! We spent a lot of time just watching Laney, and all her measurements came out to be just the size they should be. She is measuring exactly with our due date. The technician also checked the gender again for us, and YES she is still a girl :) It is funny, because we have had a hard time finding the gender all three times we have looked. Laney always seems to have her legs together! We decided that we have a modest young girl in there, and we are proud of that! You could clearly see those three lines they look for to determine if it is a girl.

Laney was so adorable. We spent a few minutes watching her play with her lips! She was sucking on her bottom lip and playing with her tongue. It was the most precious thing I have ever seen. It melted my heart, and it melted Jordan's as well!! We can't wait to meet our little girl, only 11 weeks left!!!

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let is snow!!!

Out our front window!

28 weeks... 7 months complete!

Today Jordan and I are enjoying a day off together! There was no school today, because of the SNOW. It is so beautiful outside, and the dogs are have having a blast running around and digging in the snow.

Today we plan on making some Christmas cookies and cleaning house. It is nice to have a day off together just to relax. It is so hard to believe that Christmas is just a week away, but we have all of our Christmas shopping done.

I am still feeling great and I am currently 28 weeks pregnant. This means that I just completed my 7th month of pregnancy, and I am in my 8th month. It is so crazy how fast the time has gone. I am hoping that it will continue to fly by, but I have a feeling January and February will be two long months. I have an appointment next Monday where I will have the typical gestational diabetes testing, and a yucky shot in my hip. I have to get the shot, because I am RH negative. I will also be making a trip to the dentist next week, and I haven't been there for 4 1/2 years!!! I am going to try and go every 6 months from now on.

Babies R Us.. WOW!

Currently I am 26 weeks and 5 days. We only have about one week left and then we will be in the third trimester! I cannot believe how fast time is flying by! Laney is moving so much, and I enjoy every single moment of it. When I feel her kick it is like the whole world stops and the only thing that matters is feeling my baby move inside of me!

I have still been feeling great, and we are so thankful for this wonderful blessing God has given us. This week we graduate from birthing class, and last week we were able to get a tour of the hospital. The birthing room is HUGE, but the room after the baby is born is SO small!

Yesterday, Jordan and I registered at Babies R Us. I think that was the most overwhelming thing we have come across in this pregnancy. Since we are first time parents, we have no idea what we need exactly and how much of each thing we need. So first, we had to decide what is essential for our baby. Then once we decided that we needed something, we had to choose between ten different brand names and a HUGE price range. Well, we got through it, and I think we actually did really well. It really made me nervous seeing how much stuff we will need for this little girl. So if any of you mommys out there are reading this, I would LOVE it if you wouldn't mind posting a comment and telling us what things you think are most important to have for baby, or your favorite gadgets :)

Only 18 days till Christmas :)

Jordan's expecting?

Jordan wearing the "empathy belt"

6 months!!!

These are picture of Jordan wearing the empathy belt!!! It weighted 30 pounds, restricted his breathing, and pushed on his bladder. I hope you enjoy the pictures of this, as much as I did seeing it in person! Our birthing classes are going very well.

6 months has come and gone, and now I am in my 7th month of pregnancy! Hopefully the last few months go as fast as this pregnancy has.

It is so wonderful knowing the gender of our baby. I have completely fallen in love with her. Knowing the gender just makes it easier to picture yourself holding her, loving her, kissing her, and growing old with her. I especially love shopping for her!!!!! Well, I am not allowing myself to buy anything else, until after our baby shower!

Last week Jordan and I cleaned up and organized the nursery and all of Laney's stuff that we have some how accumulated :) We sure do have A LOT of things already, but we are excited to put the most precious thing in there, LANEY :) We have our crib bedding, and we plan to paint sometime before or during my Christmas Break. We really don't have a theme in the nursery, but the colors are pink and brown with leaves.

Yesterday we had my 6 month check up, and everything went well. My blood pressure is still low, weight gain still very minimal, and Laney's heart beat was in the 160's. Our doctor told us that Laney is growing well, and that my uterus is now several inches above my belly button. Laney has officially taken over my mid-section, but I don't mind. Feeling her move in the most amazing feeling in the world! I wish I could feel it 24/7. To know that God's creation is growing and developing inside me, is just amazing.

Jordan and I have began a nighttime ritual, story time with Laney. I enjoy listening to Jordan read, but most of all I am sure Laney is enjoying it. Well everything seems to be going great, but as always we would love your prayer for a healthy baby and a full term delivery.

It's a girl... Laney Brianne Bailey!!!!!!!

Well... it is a girl!  We had our third ultrasound today, and around 10:30am we found out that "it" is now a her!!! We couldn't be more excited. Jordan says he just knew the whole time and everyone agreed with him, my whole family, Jordan's whole family, and even everyone in our birthing class.

Last week Jordan's grandmother said to me, "So Carrie... when do you find out you are having a girl? Because I know your having one, but when do you find out." Did I have it written on my head or something? We couldn't be more excited! I am still nervous, I hate to paint the room pink and have it come out a boy!! That does happen ya know!

Everything looked great. HER heart rate was 150, and she weights a whopping 1.2 POUNDS already. We spent the rest of the day driving around telling eveyone and eating lunch at Sizzler! We still haven't bought an outfit, but I think we are heading to the store in a few minutes!!!

Her name will be Laney Brianne Bailey. We really felt God chose this name for her....
Laney meaning "bright light"
Brianne meaning "noble and strong" - Brianne was my sister's name who passed away at birth.

We hope and pray that our little one will be a bright light for Jesus. That she will shine and have a overwhelming love for God! This is a verse for our little "bright light":

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on it's stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.    Matthew 5:14-16

Busy Weekend

Daisy, "Mommy's girl" all tuckered out!

Roxy "Psycho dog aka daddy's girl" ready to bark at more trick or treaters!

Well it was a very busy weekend in the Bailey house! Friday morning I woke up with a yucky tummy ache, and by the end of the day my tummy was worse and I had a headache on top of it! Jordan and I stayed home for Halloween, and boring us we didn't even dress up. We did however dress the puppies up, as you saw above :). I headed to bed around 7:30, hopeful that I would feel better the next day!

Saturday we headed to little Noah's 1st birthday (Jordan's second cousin). We had a great time, and it was great to see family and catch up! Not to mention Noah was just adorable, especially when he was eating his cake :) After the party we went to dinner with Debbi, Tom, and Kaiti. We had a wonderful time, and enjoyed our Mexican food. Unfortunately , my tummy wasn't too happy after the fact.

Sunday I headed to church by myself, as Jordan had an overtime shift that kept him working 16.5 hours! After church I headed over to Jason and Jessi's for Cailin's (my niece) baby shower. We played fun games and enjoyed Debbi's yummy cupcakes and the boys giggles!

Pregnancy wise I am feeling great, just a little under the weather. I have had a headache for about three days on and off now, and I am coming down with a head cold. Spending the whole weekend with family really gave me mixed emotions about our little one who is on the way.
At times I want to hold my baby right now, and I feel like I can't wait any longer! However, when I see all the little cousins running around and I think about how QUICK time flies by it makes me want to really enjoy being pregnant and not wish this special time away. I know once our baby is here time will just fly by even faster, and they change so much every single month when they are newborns!

I just can't wait to meet our little one. I just imagine what our baby looks like, and what they are doing all day long. How tired this little one is of my voice, since it can now hear me talking ALL DAY long as I am teaching children. I know our baby is familiar with Daisy and Roxy's howling as well. I am still craving fruit all the time, and this baby is sure happy to know that Satsumas are finally in season!!! I think I have had about 8 in the past two days :)

Jordan and I start our birthing classes this Thursday, and 9 days from now we have our next ultrasound! We will again, ATTEMPT to find out the gender...

2nd Exposure/Pictures

Our Babies Pumpkin :) "Our little pumpkin"

Proud Daddy with the pumpkin!

20 weeks... HALFWAY DONE!!!

10 weeks... not showing yet

Yep.. for the SECOND time I was exposed to fifths disease. So that means at least two more blood draws. Two of the fifth grade students at Clover Creek have it, and of course it is two of the students that I see ALL the time. I am hoping and praying that it doesn't spread like wildfire at my school, because if it becomes a big epidemic there then I will have to take some time off. I really need to save my sick days to use when I go on maternity leave. I am sure everything will be fine, but I am tired of getting the extra blood draws.

On the upside, everything is still going great! I am feeling good and my belly sure is growing these past few weeks. Also, I am feeling the baby move so much! It is the most amazing feeling in the world. I wish I could feel it every second of every day. When I feel the baby moving, I just imagine what that little one is doing inside.

FYI...
1 week until we find out what president will be in office when our baby is born... ahhh
1.5 weeks until we start our birthing classes... we are very excited!!!
2 weeks until our next ultrasound where we will ATTEMPT to find out the gender for the second time!

5 month appointment

Time is just flying by! Today we had our 5 month appointment, and it was actually the first time we met our doctor. We knew she had been out of the country, but today we found out she was on a mission trip! She is such a wonderful lady. She explains things very well and best of all we actually talked about God and how he has blessed this pregnancy! It is so awesome to have somebody who is playing such an important role in our lives at this time, share the same beliefs as us.

Everything is still going great! The babies heart rate was in the 160's today, and my uterus is all the way up to my bellybutton. It was so great hearing the heart rate again, and this time we listened for over a minute to make sure it sounded regular.

I also got a flu shot today! They make a special shot for pregnant women that does not have any preservatives. It was important to have this shot, because our baby will have my immunities for the first 6 months of it's life. So the flu shot won't only keep me well, it should benefit the baby as well. I have FINALLY become use to being poked and stabbed all the time. My blood pressure was 104/60 --- so that is still looking great as well.

In December I have to get my blood sugar test done, and I have heard it is YUCKY. I also have to get a shot in my hip, ahhhh YUCK! It is a pretty big shot, and they have to make sure it goes all the way into the muscle.

Well I guess we only have 23 more days until we can try to find the gender out again. I guess I can TRY to be patient. :)

Our little STUBBORN pumpkin :)

Below is a picture of our baby. The baby is staring right at you, scary pic huh!?! Normally you get quite a few pictures, but our baby was stubborn and this was the only one we could get.

I have been waiting MONTHS to post the blog that would tell everyone the gender of our baby, and today I found out that we have to wait another month!

Today we had our second ultrasound, and the most exciting part about the day was that we were suppose to find out the gender. I had a countdown going in my classroom and on my myspace, and now we have to start the countdown over.

Our little pumpkin decided to not cooperate with the ultrasound technician. The funny thing about this, is that I told Jordan two months ago, "Watch our baby will be stubborn and we won't be able to find out right away."

Looking for the gender:
  • The first time she looked, the baby had it's legs together.
  • The second time she looked, it had it's legs crossed and both feet in it's crotch.
  • The third time she looked, she showed Jordan and I a picture and there was nothing between the legs, but she told us she couldn't tell.
Good news to report:
  • The heart looks great and it is the right size
  • The heart rate is 154- perfect hr
  • Our baby weights 7oz - perfect size
  • It has both arms and legs
  • Everything looks great and our baby seems to be healthy!!!!

Details about the ultrasound:

We got to the appointment and I had to use the restroom REALLY bad. The lady made me wait a few minutes. Then she put the gel all over my tummy, and after about 30 seconds she wanted me to go empty my bladder so she could see baby more... DUH isn't that what I told her. :)

Then when I got back she began looking at the baby, and she said it was moving so much but she really needed it to roll over so she could get a good look at it's spine. After about 20 more minutes she made me go to the bathroom again! I didn't even feel like I had to go, but she wanted me to, so I did. I think the lady must have been new, most of the time they want your bladder full for ultrasounds.

The baby still would not cooperate, so she told me I had to come back so that they can get a good picture of the spine, but everything else looked great! The lady knew how bad we wanted to know the gender, but we could tell that she could care less what the gender was. Once she knew I had to come back anyways she sure didn't try hard to find out the gender.

Is it a boy or girl?

After the appointment, I thought it was a stubborn little boy for sure! The more I think about it, I think if it was a boy we would have been able to tell right away. When she showed Jordan and I the picture we thought we could see between the legs and there really wasn't anything there. So I think I am guessing it will be a girl now.

Jordan thinks it is a girl again. He said she was just being modest and she is stubborn like her mother. Also, he thought the picture clearly showed a girl.

That is what we think for now, and I guess we will be waiting another month. I am going to try and schedule a 3D appointment as soon as possible. Until then.. our babies new name is, "Our little pumpkin."

Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!!!!!

Ok, so the time is finally here! We have less than 24 hours until we know the gender... we are just so excited we can hardly sit still.

There have been three different polls where I had people vote:
This blog: Girl 22 Boy 10
My Students: Girl 9 Boy 18
My CoWorkers: Girl 6 Boy 8

That is a total of:
Girl: 37
Boy: 36

Currently my womanly intuition is telling me it is a girl, but I would never put money on that. Jordan has thought it was a girl FOR SURE, until about 30 minutes ago when he told me that he KNOWS for sure it is a boy.

So tomorrow is the big day, and after we find out we will post a blog and see who was right!!! We can't wait to call our baby by name instead of "It".  :)

Pay It Forward

Wow... what an amazing day.

Today was the first day Jordan and I have had off together since the very beginning of September. He has been working so many overtime shifts to save money for when I am off work with the baby. Since we finally had time together, we decided to head out to dinner and a movie.

We arrived at dinner and saw one of our awesome pastors having lunch with his family and their newborn baby who is just three weeks old. As we were finishing up the waitress brought us our bill, and it said " Congrats on the baby" and our bill was completely paid for! Jordan and I could not wipe the smile off our faces. In a world that is so ME, ME, ME it was just shocking to have someone pay for our dinner. We were so thankful, and we will always remember this genuine gift. We saved the recipe to put in our baby book!

On the way to the movie, Jordan and I decided to pay it forward and buy two movie tickets for whoever came next in line. It was so exciting to do something for someone else. There is just something special about doing something for someone who won't expect it, and better yet to have them never know who or where it came from. So as we sat in the movie and waited for them to give our free tickets away, I prayed for the people who would get the tickets. It was actually really funny buying the extra tickets, because the cashier thought we were crazy! She just couldn't understand why people who do that. Anyways, a few minutes into the previews the sound was all messed up and our movie showed 15 minutes late. The manager came into the theater and gave us all FREE TICKETS. We just couldn't believe it. It was a FREE date night, and we know that God gave that to us!

It was such a great feeling to get something unexpected and it was an amazing feeling to give something unexpected. I just challenge you all to pay it forward! Go out of your way to do something nice or buy something for someone who doesn't expect it. It is even more fun if they have no clue who did it!

Well, what a wonderful day! I will be writing in you less than 5 days to tell you the gender!!!

My class has voted...

Well, I had my class vote on if they thought it would be a boy or a girl. And the results are....

Boy: 18
Girl:9

It was so funny, because EVERY boy in my class voted that it would be a boy and a few girls as well. The boys think there is no way it could be a girl. I can't wait to announce it to them!

Also, last night we were at caregroup and I felt the baby moving SO MUCH! It was amazing, I wish I could feel it all the time. Anyways only 8 more days until we know if it's a boy or girl!!!

Feeling GREAT!

Well, I thought the next time I would blog would be to tell you the gender of our baby, but I just couldn't wait!

God has really blessed this pregnancy, and I have been feeling GREAT. In fact I have been SO energetic it is amazing. On Saturday I detailed and cleaned my car for 2 hours. Then I cleaned and organized the house from about 3pm-10pm! I didn't take any breaks, except to eat... I can't starve our baby. It is just how amazing I have felt this ENTIRE pregnancy, I guess I am lucky... well blessed! According to SOME people my time is coming for me, and it will be HORRIBLE lol I plan to stay optimistic and see what God has in store. I know labor will be HORRIBLE, but so far pregnancy is better than normal life lol!!!!

We have 11 days left until we find out the gender. I can hardly wait! I have been looking at nurseries and deciding what our theme/colors will be. I have them all picked out, but I will share that more once we actually know the gender. Jordan would like to paint the nursery, but I need some volunteers to do the artwork and detailed things... anyone interested?

This weekend Jordan and I are heading to a HUGE baby sale and we just plan on looking around, possible buying some furniture for the baby! After we leave the sale, we will be going to Ikea to see what baby stuff they have. Jordan REFUSES to buy anything from Ikea. He cannot stand the instructions, since they are not in english! He thinks the crib will fall apart on our baby. So I just want to look for the little fun accessories to decorate with.

Also, I am 99% sure I  have felt the baby twice now! At first I didn't think it was the baby, because I thought I would feel it more often. A friend described to me why you only feel it once in a while at first! It felt like these little bubbles in my lower tummy. It was the weirdest feeling. In fact, the second time I was in the middle of teaching, and I paused for a second just to concentrate on the feeling. :)

I guess I will be writing you in 11 days, and posting pictures of Laney or Carson!!!!

4 month appointment!!!

Well... Today we had our four month appointment and everything went well.

If you read the previous blog titled "prayer request" you would know I have been having a hard time worrying and giving everything to God. Well, I have been doing MUCH better, BUT today the doctor did not find the heartbeat right away, and I about FREAKED OUT.

She heard it for a second, but she got the ultrasound machine and did that instead. The reason we had a hard time getting the heartbeat, was the fact that our baby was MOVING SO MUCH! I couldn't believe it... we saw our baby and it has changed SO MUCH since 10 weeks. Also, it had hiccups. It was SO cute.

So everything is great, and the heart rate was 156. I have a more detailed ultrasound (45 minutes long) where they check everything out, and tell us the gender (hopefully!). There are 22 more days until we find out the gender and Jordan and I just cannot wait.

The doctor said for your first baby you will probably start feeling baby at 18-20 weeks, well I swear today like 3 times i felt the baby! I am probably wrong, 15 1/2 weeks seems to early, but I I really thought that is what it was.

Well I guess our next post will be telling you the gender of our baby!!!!

Prayer Request

Yesterday I found out that one of my best friends from high school lost her baby. She was only 2 weeks farther along then me. When she lost her baby she was 15 weeks pregnant, and I will be 15 weeks this Wednesday.

While I don't know the specific details, I do know that they did lose the baby (a little boy), and they almost lost my friend. My heart goes out to her and her family, and I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through. I would love to support her in anyway possible, so if you have any ideas please let me know.

I am not only heart broken and mourning with her at the loss of their son, but it has struck a fear inside of me. I know that I have NO control over my child's future. Worrying will do no good, and will not change God's plan. I also know that I need to trust God, but ever since I found out I am struggling with putting all my faith in him. I ask that you would pray for my friend, Terra, A LOT and just say a prayer that I would put my faith and trust in God.

Thank you.

And the baby names are.......

It was an easy decision for a boy, but man it took a LONG time to agree on a girl's name. Jordan has wanted Laney the entire time, but I just wasn't quite sure. After creating many poles for others to vote and asking many people I decided that Jordan and I have to make the decision, because we can't have the same taste as everyone!

I also prayed about it, and I have been praying that our baby will be on fire for God and will be a shining light to all those around him/her.  Well when I saw the meaning of Laney... it was perfect. I really think God named her for us!!!

For a boy we have...

Carson Miles Bailey

Carson meaning "son of carr" .. get it son of CARRie :)
Miles meaning "peaceful"

For a girl we have....

Laney Brianne Bailey

Laney meaning "bright light"
Brianne meaning "noble and strong"

Interesting Facts:
Miles was the name of my invisible friend as a child :)
Brianne was my sister's name who is in heaven. As a young child I always knew that I wanted to name my daughter after her someday.

I bet you have never heard a story like this!

Well... do I have a story for you!!!! I will ONLY tell you this one in 4 million (according to my dr) story if you PROMISE to read the whole thing. :) Here it goes....

So Jordan and I went in for our 2nd appointment and they did all these womanly test just to check everything out. It was also the same day I had an ultrasound. Well the very next day we got a phone call from a nurse... "Carrie, we got some test results back." I was SO worried. My stomach sank I thought something was wrong with the baby. She then assured me the baby is just fine, but that I tested positive for Chlamydia an STD. (they were WRONG by the way)

So I spent 5 minutes telling her there is NO way I have it. Jordan and I both saved ourselves for marriage, and we both trust each other 100%. I repeatedly asked her to retest me, but she said there is NO WAY they made an error and she refused to schedule me another appointment. I did not need to be retested. Ok... this was mistake #1 denying they could ever make mistakes. Last I checked Jesus is the only sinless one!!!

The nurse then spent 15 minutes telling me Jordan was having an affair (he obviously did not). YEP.. can you believe it. She spent that long telling me he had to be cheating on me. She even said, honey I know this is hard for you and this is a really bad time, but that is what is happening. So yah... Jordan wanted to kill this lady.

That same day Jordan and I traveled to 3 clinics trying to get tested just to prove what we knew was true. We couldn't find a place that took both our insurances and tested men as well as a pregnant lady. So I think about 15-20 actually heard our story, and just think about all the people who they told that day!!! It was SO embarrassing getting tested. Jordan and I KNEW they would come back negative, but everyone was looking at Jordan like he was cheating on me and everyone was looking at me like some poor naive girl who is pregnant and just found out her hubby is cheating. Anyways it was so embarrassing telling the story... one of the rewards of saving yourself for marriage is that you don't have to deal with that kinda stuff.

So... it was a LONG 3 days waiting for the results. Guess what... they both came back NEGATIVE!!! What do you know! So I called my OB office, and told my OB. She apologized again, but I still don't think the nurse got in big trouble. Jordan and I plan on filing a complaint. We have been told to hire a lawyer from a few friends just to threaten them. The reason for that... my OB office turned my name into the heath dept and the guy won't leave me alone until I fax the negative results. Now my name is in the database as having an STD. Soo... a lawsuit would be sufficient for Defamation of Character and Public Embarrassment. So if you know a lawyer.... j/k. I just want to do the God honoring thing, which is probably not filing a law suit. We will be filing a formal complaint, and we are hoping to meet with a big wig from Multicare.  I hope you enjoyed our crazy story!!!

Second Appointment and Ultrasound

Yesterday we had our first ultrasound. It was very exciting. Jordan and I thought we would spend an hour looking at the baby, since that is how long the appointment is, but that was not the case. We got to look at the baby for maybe 15 minutes. The rest of the appointment they look at all of your organs and measure them. They are making sure that you don't have any large masses or anything.

The technician said that everything looks great, and our baby has all the right measurements and is just the right size. Our due date will remain the same, March 11. She called our baby Curly-Cue a few times, because "it" kept curling up into a ball. We also got to hear the heartbeat. That was SO amazing. Our baby's heart rate is 171, which is perfect for it's age.

Here is our baby!

The only bad news, well at least for me, is that I have to get a shot in my hip at 27 weeks. I found out that my blood type is O negative, and Jordan's is A positive. The reason for this is that we do not know what type of the blood the baby has. If the baby's blood is negative I wouldn't need the shot, but if it is positive I need the shot, because protein can build up in my baby that is not healthy for them. So I will not be looking forward to that! The good news when you are O negative is that I can donate blood to ANYONE, BUT the bad news not anyone can donate their blood to me :(.

Florence, OR

Wow! What a trip we had. We headed down to Florence for our annual 10 day vacation to the sand dunes where we ride our quads. On the positive side it was very relaxing, time went slow, we had SOME days with beautiful weather, and we became Sudoku experts! Well, for the rest of our vacation we met some really interesting people.

1. Upon arriving at the campground there were three tents in our campsite. When we were about to ask them to move their tents, a lady came up and asked if they had to move their tents. She wasn't very happy with us, but our response was YES :) There wasn't even a place for our tent.

2. For two days children and adults walked right through the center of our campsite. For all of you campers out there, it is just COMMON knowledge you don't walk through or into others campsites. Not only were kids walking through, the adults started to as well. THEN, one lady was walking around our tent in circles as she talked on her cell phone! COME ON PEOPLE!!!

3. We put up a rope as our "drying rope for towels", but really it was just to keep them out. Well they just picked up the rope and walked under it. Then the camp host talked to them, and we just got dirty looks the rest of the week.

4. New camping neighbors arrive. They seem to be very friendly, BUT as Jordan was walking our dog Daisy went to the bathroom. He didn't have a bag with him so he was walking toward the bag dispenser when this 11 year old girl comes and begins yelling at Jordan, " Hey what are you doing, you better clean up your dogs crap!" Later we find out her parents sent her over. Those parents sure are teaching their kids to respect adults wouldn't you say?!?

5. Jordan and I woke up Tuesday morning, and there was a tent two feet from our tent! It again was on our campsite. We just couldn't believe it, we only had one night left so we decided to just let it go.

6. Later that night about 10pm we are sitting in my parents motor home. While sitting there we saw people standing right in front of the motor home. We looked outside and our lovely neighbors were now putting two tents on our site. NOT ONLY that, but they were building a trench with sand so the rain would not go in their tents, instead it would be heading toward ours! Jordan decides to head over there and ask them what is going on. Well he could hardly get two words out of his mouth, and the wife and husband started SCREAMING at Jordan. After about twenty seconds the husband held up a shovel and said he was going to hurt Jordan and that he is a 5th degree black belt. Well that was enough, so we headed to the camp host. LONG story short, the camp host said they have to move, but Jordan was nice enough to let them stay. The rest of the night and next day Jordan was called many interesting names.

So, we have decided that everyone (on our trip) only cares about themselves and that the rules don't apply to them.

4 years

Wow, the time has sure flown by. Four years ago today Jordan and I were tying the knot. It is amazing how fast the time has gone, and now with a baby I am sure the time will fly even faster. Well, I should say ONCE we have the baby time will speed up, because being pregnant and waiting for the baby to arrive feels like time has STOPPED!

Jordan could not get off work today :(, but we still enjoyed a nice evening together. We went and painted pottery (it is our tradition). Jordan painted a football helmet candy dish. I will give you one guess what team he painted it for, of course -- The Ohio State University. He wasn't too happy with his creation, so it may end up being a night stand coin dish :) I painted a spoon rest. It is very "Primitive" to match our kitchen. Last year a made a display plate that we have have in our kitchen, and I decided to make the spoon rest match! I would really like to head back to paint pottery shortly after the baby is born. They had many display plates that had the babies name, birthday, time of birth, weight, and height. I thought that was a great idea! A few of them even had baby footprints or hand prints. When the time comes around, please remind me that I wanted to do this, because I am sure my mind will be elsewhere!

After painting pottery, Jordan and I headed to a YUMMY pizza joint. I wasn't feeling that great, I was SO tired and bloated, so a romantic dinner where I had to dress up didn't sound all that fun to me. Also, Jordan was craving the pizza and salad -- let me tell you, you would think Jordan is the pregnant one j/k :). So I agreed and we had a great time there, and it was delicious! After dinner we headed home and we watched a movie together. It was a great day.

The last four years have been amazing, and it has been wonderful seeing our relationship grow with each other and in Christ more and more each day. Well this is to many many more blissful years to come!!!!

Dad's Corner

It was so funny going to Carrie's appointment.  It was weird to be the "Dad" at the appointment.  It was so fun seeing all of the pictures on the wall of the stages of the pregnancy.  I am so excited to paint and buy baby clothes.  I can't wait for the baby to get here.  I ask Carrie all of the time, "Can't we just have it today?"  I love going to Babies R Us with Carrie and picking out cribs and clothes and strollers.  Although Carrie is a little crazy about having to have a girl names picked out in the next 10 minutes.  She's just so excited too.  It's funny how I already think of things like if it's a girl, what will her wedding day be like or if it's a boy what kind of sports he will want to do.  (Baseball is a must).  I have made Carrie take like 5 pregnancy tests you know just to make sure. haha.  Anyways I am excited for our next appt which according to Carrie will be the "Awkward one."  I will keep you posted

Jordan

Our First Appointment

Today we had our first appointment and it went really well. I was very excited for the appointment, but also very nervous. I have been having a really weird pain/feeling in my right pelvic area, and I didn't really express how nervous it made me to anyone else, because I didn't want to stress anybody when it could be harmless. Well, I asked my Doctor about it, and she said it was harmless. That your ovary creates a cyst when you get pregnant, and some women can feel it, while other women will never feel it at all. She said it is just my body doing exactly what she wants it to do.

My appointment was at 3pm, but we didn't leave the office until 5pm! The doctor was a little bit late seeing us, but we were with the doctor for over an hour. It was a very relaxing visit. Jordan and I just sat down together and she asked us a billion questions, and in return we asked her a billion questions :) It was very informative and it just made me SO much more excited! My next appointment will be at the end of August, and I will also be having my first ultrasound! I will be 12 weeks pregnant, so we should be able to see a pretty good shot of the baby. We won't know the gender until 18-20 weeks though.

My due date is March 11th, which is Jordan's maternal grandfather's birthday. We have decided that if our baby is born on his birthday, and if it is a boy, we will give him the same middle name as his grandpa "Richard".

After the appointment I had to have my blood drawn. They took three huge vials! I HATE getting my blood drawn, but Jordan said I took it like a trooper and I didn't whine at all. The lady who took my blood was very gentle and very funny. She said that she could tell by the look on our faces that we were going to be first time parents. She said nobody is glowing and smiling like that when they get their blood drawn, but I told her that was my nervous smile :).  Also as we were talking about getting my blood drawn MANY MANY more times throughout this pregnancy, she so kindly told me childbirth would be MUCH worse. It was a great day, and I can't wait until we get to meet out baby!!!!

Vacation

Wow! I feel like I haven't been home in FOREVER. The last week of June we went to Seaside, the next week we went to Seven Bays, then the next week I went to church camp, and finally I am leaving for Rife Lake for a week today! Last year Jordan and I didn't go camping at all, and I think we are making up for that this year.

Also July 11th was our 8 year anniversary! I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone by! We will be celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary on July 30th! We are very excited!

Ok about the baby, I am feeling GREAT! No sickness, I am just a little tired, no food aversions, and really no cravings... well maybe fruit and grilled cheese. I have been drinking A LOT of water, and I feel like I go to the bathroom WAY too much. I scheduled my very first appointment to see the doctor. My appointment is set for Monday, July 21st! I cannot wait!

We're Pregnant!!!

JULY 3rd
We are camping in Eastern Washington at Seven Bays. This camping trip is an annual event, and all of Jordan's extended family attends every year. When I was packing for the trip I decided to take only one pregnancy test with me, and not test until the very last day. If I tested on the last day of our trip (July 3rd) my period would be two days late. The directions say that you should test first thing in the morning. Unfortunately I woke up at FOUR AM!!! I was SO tired, and I didn't want to take the test that early. If the test was negative I would be sad, and not be able to sleep. If the test was positive, I would be too excited to sleep. So I tried to fall back asleep...

4:30 Am - I woke up again, and I HAVE to go to the bathroom NOW! So I head there and take the test. 3 minutes seems like an ETERNITY when you are waiting, so I was just looking at myself in the mirror and trying to not think about the test. THEN I looked down... it said PREGNANT! I was SHOCKED!!!!!!!! I had to look again, and I just stared at it. I couldn't believe it. I only had one or two pregnancy symptoms, and I had the mindset that I was NOT pregnant. So when I saw the test I was in shock. I remember saying, "Oh my goodness, oh my goodness" OVER AND OVER. I then sat on the toilet with my hands on my head, and prayed thanking God for this miracle!!!! After I pulled myself together, it was time to return to the tent and try to hide everything I was feeling from Jordan. Well, it wasn't too hard he was FAST asleep and nothing was waking him up. I just laid in bed and was thanking God.

LATER THAT DAY
When we woke up I pretended like nothing happened. ALL of Jordan's family was there and it was so funny the things they were saying. I was holding Noah, our second cousin who is seven months old, and his Grandma said to me, "Carrie you better not hold Noah too long, babies are contagious" Little did she know i was already pregnant lol! Then Jordan's Aunt Mary was making a baby blanket, and I comment on how much I liked it. She asked me, "If I save this blanket for you, how long will I have to wait to give it to you?" I was thinking 9 months LOL, but I told her, "I don't know". The reason I didn't tell everyone right away was that I wanted to tell Jordan in a private and very special way!
It was time to go home, and I BEGGED Jordan to take the way home that goes through Cashmere and Leavenworth. Little did he know what was about to come. I wasn't sure where or how I was going to tell him. The entire drive I was looking for somewhere beautiful and special where we could pull off the road and take a picture. So after a few hours we entered Cashmere. The sun was shining BRIGHT, and we saw a BEAUTIFUL river that had a bridge across it. Jordan and I both commented on how beautiful it was, so I asked him if we could go stand in the middle of the bridge and take some pictures. LUCKILY he pulled over and we got out of the car. I WAS NERVOUS! I knew he wanted a baby and we had been trying, but I wanted it to be a perfect moment. So we get to the middle of the bridge and take a few pictures. After we are done with pictures he ask to head back to the car (he had a REALLY BAD BLISTERY sunburn). So I said sure, but I think you have my debit card in your pocket. (I slipped the test into his pocket when we were on the bridge and he didn't notice!) So he began searching his pockets and then he found it! He was so excited, he didn't believe me. He started crying and saying, "Oh honey, your kidding me LOL, your kidding me right?!?" He didn't think it was real.. it was CUTE!

After a few minutes together, we headed back to the car and we decided to stop in Leavenworth. I had never been there before! It was SO beautiful, and we are going to plan a trip there again sometime soon! At first I wanted to wait to tell everyone, but Jordan COULD NOT WAIT! He didn't want to tell anyone by phone so he said he wanted to go to my parents house THAT NIGHT and tell them. We were trying to think of a cool way to tell them. Then I found shirts that said, "This is what a real cool Grandma/Grandpa looks like." We decided to buy them, and we would have them open them at the same time, and see if they got it lol. Before heading over there we ran to our house and I took another pregnancy test, and it said PREGNANT again! So we headed over to my parents. We gave them their gifts and my mom looked confused. She was like, "Is this for the future?" It was SO funny! She said she knew how organized I was and I always plan out everything in advance so she thought it was for the future. We didn't tell anyone we were trying, because we didn't want the added pressure! They were excited!

Earlier in the day Jordan and I had decided we would tell his parents on Sunday night when they came home from camping. He didn't want to call and tell them, BUT he couldn't wait any longer. As soon as he woke up he said, " I thought about it, and I want to call my mom now." I said ok and I listened as he told her. Every year when we go to Seven Bays we trace our hands write our name, age, and height on the building walls. Well Jordan called in the morning on Jason's cell phone. He woke Jason up and told him he really needed to talk to mom, so Jason went and woke Debbi up. When she answered the phone he said, "Mom I need you to do me a favor. Can you please go draw a stick figure next to Carrie's hand and write that she was pregnant this year." Debbi said, " Ahh, are you serious!!" She was so excited, then she shouted out Carrie's Pregnant! lol Kaiti and Jason heard and we could hear Kaiti in the background! Then we told Jessi and Aunt Mary on the phone. Later in the day they shared the news with Jordan's entire extended family. I really wish we could have been there and told them in person, but it was still very exciting and special!

JULY 4TH
We woke up and headed to Babies R Us just to take a look. Then we will be going to my Aunt Angie and Uncle Robbie's house. We go there every year for the fourth of July. We really wanted to wait a while to tell everyone, but we were just too excited. We decided that we would have faith in God and we want to share every minute of this new experience with our family and friends, if anything were to happen, then we would have a big support group. So we decided to tell all of my family at the party. We had my mom and dad wear their new shirts, and they walked into the house. It was SO funny, everyone was staring at my mom's shirt, but no one said anything. Then Stacy asked about it, this was my Aunt Ange's expression, she was so excited she teared up:

It was so much fun telling everyone. The next people to come in the door was my Aunt Corkie and my cousin Cori. She was reading my mom's shirt and she didn't get it at first, but when she did she FREAKED out lol. Here is a picture of her and my cousin:

All night long we continued to tell everyone, it was so excited and so funny watching everyone's expression. This last picture is of my cousin Alyssa, I told her I wanted to take a picture of her and my cousin Stephanie, and I said on the count of three repeat after me.... "Carrie's Pregnant" It was SOoooooooooooo FUNNY! Here is the picture:

It has been a great two days. It seems like it has been two weeks, but it was great having so much support from our family and friends. We know this baby is going to be loved! We are so excited!
