First Cold

I have sad news to report. Laney has her first cold!!! We have been so careful always washing our hands and making other people wash their hands, that I swear some people think I am psycho. I can read people really well, and I know some people think we are crazy for how much we wash our hands. However, I guess it just didn't work. She was exposed to three little ones who were pretty sick, and three days later she woke up really snotty in the middle of the night. The rest of the day she seemed ok, but the next night she woke up REALLY snotty and stuffy. Now we are on day three and last night was miserable. She went down at about midnight and was awake crying at 2:00 really stuffy and snotty. Then I was awake with her until 6am. Then Jordan got home and we all slept downstairs with the humidifier. She slept a bit better and throughout the day today she just slept. She really didn't want to eat and she was really lethargic. She is running a low grade fever as well.

Tonight she seems to be feeling better. She has been awake and HUNGRY. She has been wanting to eat a lot, probably making up for what she missed during the day. So I hope she has a much better night. Please keep her in your prayers.

We have been staying busy in the Bailey house. Jordan has been back to work for two weeks now, and Laney and I are trying to stay busy and spend time outside of the house. Laney is now 5 weeks old and she is doing great. On April 7th she cracked her first smile for mommy. She has smiled many times before, but that was always in her sleep or gas! This one was a REAL smile and I even got a few of them. 

We had a wonderful Easter, and we are so thankful for such a wonderful supportive family. We dressed Laney in a very fancy dress, and she was a little magnet at church. Two ladies wanted to take a picture of Laney, and we had no idea who these ladies were. It took us 45 minutes to get out the front doors of the church. We are so proud of our little girl and we just LOVE being parents. Something I find funny, I have been asked SEVERAL times when we are going to have our next baby! Goodness... Laney is only 5 weeks old and everyone is ready for another one. I thought I wouldn't get asked this question for a year or so! Well the answer to this question is... Jordan and I would like our kids to be about about 2-3 years apart, but you never know God is MUCH bigger than we are.

Well we had a very busy weekend. On Saturday we went to Ocean Shores for the day. We had a blast, and it was so much fun bringing Laney with us. She was great, and slept the whole way there and the whole way home. We look forward to the day when she can fly a kite (Jordan and I are BIG kite flyers) and watch her build sandcastles, but for now we loved caring her around and dancing with her on the beach.

On Sunday, we went to church and then I headed to a baby shower. I had a wonderful time at the baby shower, and I can't wait to meet another one of Laney's friends... baby Emily. After the shower, I headed over to Jordan's brother and sister-in-law's house. We had a great time with family and spent time outside in the beautiful weather. It is so much fun watching my nephews with Laney, they just love her so much. As soon as Jon held her, he asked "Take a picture with me and LAMEY." He can't say Laney, so he says Lamey... too cute!!

Today Laney is one month old. Sometimes it seems like we have had Laney at home FOREVER, and it seems weird to think life without Laney ever existed. On the other hand the time has just flown by, and we just can't believe she is already a month. It has showed us that we need to enjoy every moment, as they grow SO FAST. Laney had her one month check up today, and she did great. She only got one shot, and she didn't like it very much at all. The rest of they day she just wanted to snuggle, and I enjoyed every moment of it. She now weights 8 pounds 7 ounces and is 22 inches long. She left the hospital weighing 6 pounds 3 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches. So she is definitely growing! She is in the 25 percentile for her weight and 60 percentile for her height. Her doctor said everything looks great! After her appointment we headed to JC Pennys to get her one month pictures taken. She is just so adorable, and again we had a hard time picking out photos. As soon as we get them back I will post them.

I am going to start this post the way I started many of the post when I was pregnant, TIME IS FLYING BY!!! We just can't believe how fast the time has come and gone. Today Laney is 3 weeks and 6 days old. I just can't believe that she will be 4 weeks tomorrow, and we will be celebrating her one month birthday on Monday. 

We have been having so much fun getting to know Laney and spending quality time as a family. Last Sunday, we had Laney dedicated at church. It was an amazing experience, and it was so much fun to be able to dedicate her while she was so little. She was the smallest baby there, and boy oh boy did she have a support group. TWENTY ONE people came to watch her dedication! Jordan and I were overwhelmed by the support of our families, and we feel so blessed. She sure is a special little girl. 

As of Tuesday Jordan is back to work. Laney and I are enjoying our time alone at home, but we sure do miss having Jordan home. Jordan decided we should file bankruptcy and live off the tax payers, hey maybe the government will bail us out and support our family!?! I know we are just dreaming, but we just can't get enough of our little girl. 

Upcoming events... Laney will be one month next Monday. She has a doctor's appointment and pictures scheduled on her one month birthday. Also, next week Laney and I will be visiting my students to take part in the class picture.

One Happy Family

Well today, we had an appointment for Carrie and an appointment for Laney. First we went to Carrie's appointment to get her blood pressure checked. Finally, Carrie's blood pressure is back to where it started. Everything looks good and her scar is healing great!

We then went to Babies R us and got MORE DIAPERS!!!! I changed out our diaper genie and couldn't believe how many diapers we went through in a week and a half.

After that we went to Famous Dave's and got some yummy lunch. We have been craving it!!! This was Laney's first place she has been to eat out.

Then we went to Laney's appointment and that is where the real fun began. First, We got there and they weighed Laney. She is now 7lbs and 4oz. She put on 3/4 a lb in a week!!! We met her new Doctor, DR. Grubb and we really like him. The doctor said that her weight gain was great and that Laney was an A+ baby. And now for Daddy's first "grossed out" story. While changing her diaper in the office, I was putting the new one on and as I put the diaper under her tush, she pooped and shot put all over my thumb and up my wrist. I wanted to gag!!!! It's ok though, it's like God gives you anti grossed out help once you become a Daddy.

Anyways, after that we decided it would be ok to finally give Laney a pacifier. SHE LOVES IT!!!! It was so funny because she sucks on it like the baby on the simpson's. She smacks her lips on it. It's adorable. We'll I have to go back to work in less than 2 more weeks and I get more and more bummed every day. I told Carrie I will be a stay at home Dad, but that was a NO GO.

Today we had a busy day catching up on laundry. Jordan and I both had TONS to do, and it is so amazing how much laundry one little girl can produce. We celebrated St. Patty's Day by visiting grandma at work, and walking around the mall. I have been wanting to walk a little bit, but the weather has been horrible outside. So we decided to take our stroller out for the first time and enjoy some indoor walking and a yummy dinner from the food court. 

Laney is still a wonderful baby. She sleeps very well for us and she is so content. She fusses a little when she has a cold wipe on her bottom during diaper changes, but other then that she is enjoying snuggling with mommy and daddy. I am recovering very well, and feeling great. My blood pressure is finally going down, and I only have 2 pounds left to lose before I am to my prepregnancy weight. YAHOOO!!! Oh yes, and Jordan is doing awesome. He has been SO helpful cleaning and doing just about everything. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and beautiful/healthy baby girl.

Laney's First Sunday at Church

3.15.09 - Today Laney went to church for the first time. It was so much fun taking her in her dress and showing her off to everyone. She did really well, and slept through most of the service. The last five minutes she decided she was hungry, so mommy headed out to the lobby to feed her. It was so wonderful attending church as a family, and we can't wait to see what God has in store for our family and Laney's life. We are so thankful and feel so blessed to have such a beautiful and healthy little girl. A lot of people have told me I am lucky, but I don't think that is the correct word. We are very blessed, and I thank God everyday. 

Today at church we signed up for parent/child commitment. We are very excited to dedicate Laney and commit to raising her up in a Godly way and in the church. We would love everyones support. Well we gave Laney her first bath at home today. As you can tell by the last photo, she doesn't like it very much! We are very excited for that little belly button to come off, because we think she will enjoy a real bath instead of having water squeezed on her by a washcloth and then having the cold air get to her. She does LOVE her head being washed. When you put water on her head she stops crying, and she looks like the happiest baby ever. It is so adorable.

3.11.09 - After getting permission from Laney's doctor we decided to head out of the house for the first time. Her doctor told us it was ok to go to church and go shopping, but we just need to make sure people don't kiss all over her and get their spit on her. We needed some baby hangers and we wanted to get a few more fleece jammies for Laney, so we headed to Fred Meyer. It was so much fun walking in as a family of three. It is crazy how much time is added to everything we do and how long it takes to get ready, when she is just so little.

3.11.09 - We had an amazing photographer come to our home and take professional pictures of Laney. She spent a total of 5 hours at our home, and she was so patient waiting for Laney to cooperate and sleep.  As you can see it was well worth the time. In about a week we will get to see the rest of the pictures, and let me tell you... I think we might go BROKE!!! If you ever need any kind of pictures done, I would really recommend this photographer. Laney's First Appointment

On Wednesday March 11th, Laney had her first appointment with her pediatrician. It went very well, and he told us what a strong healthy baby we have. They weighed her and she was 6.85. We were very excited to see that number, because the day we left he hospital Laney was down to 6.3, which was almost 10% of her body weight. Most babies lose weight at first, but 10% is the most they should lose. They were also concerned that she might have a little touch of jaundice, but her doctor said she looked great and he wasn't worried about it at all.
